I prayed and God answered. Welcome to the calling God is currently placing before me. I've been praying that God would begin to sow seeds in my life that would produce fruit in the area of my favorite craft...writing!
I love to write and it's something I'm naturally talented in, so I want to use it to serve God. I had a friend ask me a few months back why I didn't write professionally, because she sees how passionate I am about it. Although I'm still unsure of if I am called to do it "professionally", I do know that I am equipped to do if for God's gain. But I wanted to be sure that my passion was for God and not for my own selfish reasons. I really do love writing, but I wanted to take time to be sure that my personal passion was also God's calling for me.
I recently mentioned in a conversation that God often has steps as to how he speaks to us. He will start with a whisper, and then move to an elevated tone, but you want to do your best to refrain from requiring him to use a bullhorn. :)
My whisper was the idea and me stating that if I came up with a name I would know God wanted me to proceed. The escalated voice was a friend deciding she was moved enough to share some of my blogged words, and then I also prayed about a name and in the midst of me writing out the prayer I wrote the word "Reflection" in it and I heard God speak directly to my spirit saying "there it is".
The bullhorn was a bible verse. I was on my way to bed and I felt led to read a scripture, but I didn't know what to read. So I used the topic index of my Bible and started searching for something that jumped at me. I found a verse marked Hearing From God and I flipped to it.
I read PS 119:129-130 in the Amplified Bible and I immediately felt God say "Do you have an answer now?" I then went and got the NIV version (because even the bullhorn isn't enough for me at times lol) and read that. I got a different understanding from the NIV reading, but it was equally as applicable to the situation. So, with that last bonk on the head I've bowed at my King's feet and accepted his call to share his a Word through my art.
Welcome to our (yours and mine) Journey on seeing His Reflection in our lives.
